ARTEFACT ORIGIN: Seaham Beach, UK

MATERIALS: Vintage Red Sea glass, sterling silver frames and hooks.

DIMENSIONS: Total drop including hook - 4.5cm.

HISTORY: These earrings feature two nearly identical pieces of Red Sea glass, smoothed and shaped by decades in the sea.

Genuine Red Seaglass is extremely rare to find when sandlarking, as to manufacture it in the past, gold or copper needed to be added. These earrings really come to life in the light, with glowing orange hues around the edges.

As no two pieces of natural sea glass are the same, the earring frames have been separately handmade to accommodate each piece. They are deliberately not perfectly matching, in order to honour the natural feel of the glass. Think of these earrings as sisters rather than twins.

CRAFTSMANSHIP: Each smooth teardrop shard is suspended in a handmade silver hoop frame. Texture has been added through light hammering.

Silver under 7.78g (excluding detachable chains and stones) is not legally required to be hallmarked in the UK.
